Opera Game. Lviv National Opera
Opera reimagined for young audiences: how video decorations and interactive effects made classical music feel like play.
RocknLight collaborated with the Lviv National Opera on the premiere of Opera Game - a one-hour family show directed by Olena Savchuk. Through vibrant video decorations and interactive effects, the studio brought the production's classical opera moments to life, transforming the grand stage into a fully immersive visual world.
Opera Game is built around a simple but powerful question: what happens when a teenager who thinks opera is boring is challenged to play a game by the Phantom of the Lviv Opera? The answer unfolds as a joyful, interactive journey through the world of classical music — where every scene is a new challenge, and the stage itself becomes a playground.
RocknLight designed a unique visual world for each operatic moment, giving every scene its own colour, atmosphere, and sense of place. As characters from the theatre's repertoire appear one by one — the Toreador from Bizet's Carmen, Papageno and Papagena from Mozart's The Magic Flute, Nemorino from Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore — the visuals shift to match each classical world, turning the stage into a journey through the history of the theatre itself.
The show's central idea is carried as much by the visuals as by the story: that the past and the present are not opposites, but partners. Opera Game premiered on 4 May 2025 and continues to play to full houses of families, children, and teenagers — proof that when classical art meets modern technology, even the most sceptical audience member can fall in love with opera.
